Killing two birds with one stone!!!

Hey People.........today is a big day in many states as the V-day has finally come ( finally) .Yes, you got it, you get to VOTE today (Yipeeeeee) I hope all of you have decided to vote today and have chosen your candidate/individual/party after all the research and scrutinizing of character, education, background and the most important in my list is their CRIMINAL RECORD and background......:)... All of us do realise the fact that every vote counts and a single vote can make or break our country.....I wont be voting this year:( I only get to vote from next year since by then I will get all my confirmation/required documents )

I have always been politically inclined person ( I aspire to be the PM of this country........really...I know its difficult to take it, but don't worry if you are mean to me I will just chuck you to Iraq or Pakistan only I promise not to courier you to Amerr--Rica) but I guess till then I will do my bit. until I succeed in becoming PM one day I will take part in making small but significant decisions.

I did start with it around 6-7 years back, thanks to my friend Geetu Mansinghani......(Yupp.. That's it....Lady with the perfect hand). Its a simple task of not littering your country/city/state with papers/wrappers/plastic bags and so on and so forth........She enlightened my-tiny-mind-which-thinks-it-is-smartest-thing-since-slice bread. She explained to me about the fact there are DUSTBINS around the city, office, homes which need to be made use of, and its not a pretty little box which is on display. So, since then I have made an effort not to litter the city with my bus ticket/train pass/wrapper/bhel-puri paper/newspaper/plastic bag/chewing gum/wafer packet etl on the road or in any public place.

In fact I have made sure that people around me too get the point ..OK, I am not boasting about it ( Never need to do so coz people do it for me:)) but here is one incident. I was travelling in the train (in the evening back to home from office). A lady sitting next to me is eating yummy bhel puri (crap it made me hungry, very hungry) OK back.........(Now I will have to eat one on my way back home today) OK, after the lady finishes her snack for the evening she conveniently plans to chuck the paper outside ..........'STOP' I said and she did double take with 'Ekta Kapoor 3-angle-look'. I smiled very sweetly towards her and very politely asked her "If you find it difficult and heavy to carry the paper with you until you find a dustbin , why don't you give it to me. I will carry it for you and chuck it in a bin." There was complete silence in the compartment .........not a word..Everyone was staring at us.....I kept the smile pasted on my face ......The lady was red as tomato and was embarrassed and finally shook her head and whispered to me " No, Its alright, I will do it." Mission succeeded.........With this I learnt a fact on how people will do anything to avoid being embarrassed in public ( She did carry the heavy empty paper with her)

But I got the satisfaction on the fact that she and others did learn a lesson and I bet she will think twice before littering the city again. So keep in my mind do NOT litter your city/country because you have to live here.

Cheers!!!

  1. The problem of littering is high in Mumbai, especially because of train travelling. People find it so convenient to throw garbage as they think the rail tracks are dustbins. It is ridiculous. At this point, I would also like to raise the issue of spitting in your city. It is a disgusting habit and spitters in Mumbai do not seem to realise that. I wish you could highlight this also in one of your future posts.
